When a film with such emotional resonance and visual poise as In the Bedroom makes it to the screen, it seems an unexpected gift meant to remind us of the medium’s possibility for sensitivity and epiphany. First-time director Todd Field, who adapted the film from a story by Andre Dubus with screenwriter Rob Festinger, quietly observes the loss, rage, and inexorable desire for revenge that follows the murder of a 21-year-old son. The film opens with Frank (Nick Stahl), back from college for the summer, taking up with Natalie (Marisa Tomei), a slightly older, sexually alluring woman with two boys and an estranged husband prone to violence. It is the tender portrayal of love between Frank and his parents, even as Frank and Natalie’s relationship reveals the prejudices of all involved, that makes the subsequent anguish of the film so acute. Matt and Ruth Fowler (Tom Wilkinson and Sissy Spacek), middle-class denizens of a Maine lobster town where everyone knows each other, toil through weeks of devastation and blame following Frank’s murder before their outrage obliterates all else. Field’s exact handling of jealousy, class division, and grief is abetted by career-highlight performances from Wilkinson and Spacek. In the Bedroom is, along with You Can Count On Me, one of the best American dramas to grace the new millennium so far. –Fionn Meade

(♫) My Awesome Mixtape – Hearts To Lend (mp3) :
MY AWESOME MIXTAPE
My Awesome Mixtape’s story starts, like that of many other bands, in their bedroom.
That’s where, at the tail end of 2006, Maolo, Checco and Bebo – three spritely Bolognese regaz – half-jokingly start making music. Mixing and matching their favourite styles, they end up generating an original mix of indie rock, hip hop and electronica, the kind you cannot fail to dance to.
In the space of a few months, the band’s first songs become the talk of the town, and soon enough they are hailed everywhere as Italy’s next big thing.
At that point, leaving the bedroom to go out and play with the big kids is almost mandatory. After a few changes in line-up and solo experiments, My Awesome Mixtape become a fivesome: Maolo Torreggiani, Andrea Mancin, Andrea Sologni, Alessandro Scagliarini and Federico Spadoni. Their first album, titled "My Lonely and Sad Waterloo", is published as a co-production between Italian labels My Honey Records and I dischi dell’amico immaginario, on September 8th 2007.
Upon the album’s release, the band has already played in half the country’s live venues, and tries successfully to go abroad and export their music in the rest of Europe.
At the end of 2008, MAM’s “Neverending Tour” will have lined up a smashing 158 live gigs, and gained the band an award as Best Live Band of the season at the annual Meeting of Independent Labels in Faenza.
That’s not the end of it. MAM’s participation in a compilation sponsored by Mercedes-Benz, the special guest appearance in the ensemble video for La nuova musica italiana by Italian hardcore sensations Linea77, and the re-release of “My Lonely And Sad Waterloo” in Germany through Rewika Records, and in Japan through P-Vine Records, start paving the way for a new album, scheduled for release in the fall of 2009.
“How Could a Village Turn Into a Town” will be released in Italy through 42 Records (also home of Gatto Ciliegia Contro Il Grande Freddo, Kobenhavn Store and Fake P) and in Germany, Austria and Switzerland through Rewika Records.
Recorded by Bruno Germano of Settlefish, the album marks a new progression in My Awesome Mixtape’s artistic growth. Composed, arranged and played as a team effort, “How Could a Village Turn Into a Town” matches its predecessor’s freshness with a newfound maturity and awareness in handling and shaping sound.
The album will be preceded before the summer by the “Other Houses” EP, issued by 42 Records in double format, digital and coloured cassette tape (for a total of 150 numbered copies). The EP will be accompanied by two live videos, made by Opificio Ciclope for Italian web TV Pronti al peggio, and will contain three new songs (two of which will not be made available anywhere else), as well as two remixes by hot items of the Italian club scene Congorock and Peluche (Dariella of hip hop band Amari and Matteo Lavagna of Disco Drive).
With a new and improved line-up, once again a five-piece but without guitars, (its members are Maolo Torreggiani, Andrea Mancin, Andrea Suriani, Alessandro Scagliarini and Federico Spadoni), My Awesome Mixtape are about to make their comeback on the Italian stage, before they move on to their next European tour, scheduled for September 2009, when the album is set to be released.
"How Could A Village Turn Into A Town", has been released on September 2009.

Crazy Drunk Driving Car Accident By My House!
Please read the whole description!
HOLY CRAP CRAZY DRUNK DRIVING CAR ACCIDENT BY MY HOUSE AT 4:30 AM!!!! A CAR WAS GOING 70+MPH AND BECAME AIRBORNE AND FLEW ALL OF THE WAY OVER A NEIGHBOR’S DRIVEWAY, LANDED ON THE GRASS ON THE OTHER SIDE, AND CRASHED INTO A HOUSE 3 HOUSES DOWN FROM OURS! LUCKY NOBODY WAS KILLED! WHEN I FIRST HEARD THE ACCIDENT AT 4:30AM AND WENT OUTSIDE AT 5:00AM WITH MY DOG, WE (MY DOG AND I, LOL) SAW TONS OF NEIGHBORS AND FIRE DEPARTMENT VEHICLES AND A NASTY LOOKING WRECKED PICKUP TRUCK SMASHED INTO ANOTHER NEIGHBOR’S HOUSE, AND IT LOOKED LIKE NOBODY COULD POSSIBLY HAVE SURVIVED THAT (AND SOUNDED LIKE IT WHENEVER I HEARD IT FROM MY BEDROOM, BECAUSE IT SOUNDED SO BAD), BUT THEY SURVIVED. IT WAS A DRUNK GUY AND HIS GF. HE WAS RUNNING AROUND AFTER THE CRASH LIKE, "I KILLED MY GF, I KILLED MY GF, DON’T CALL THE COPS" (LOL "DON’T CALL THE COPS?" WHY NOT?) AND DRUNK
THAT IS WHY YOU SHOULDN’T DRINK AND DRIVE. I CAN’T BELIEVE IT! THE GUY ONLY THOUGHT HIS GF WAS KILLED B/C HE WAS DRUNK AND HE SAW HER SITTING IN THE CAR IN SHOCK. AMBULANCES TOOK THEM TO A HELICOPTER WAITING RIGHT OUTSIDE OUR NEIGHBORHOOD TO BRING THEM TO THE HOSPITAL! NOBODY DIED, BUT BLOOD WAS ON THE SIDE OF THE PICKUP TRUCK, AND I SAW THE CRASHED CAR, THE HOLE IN THE HOUSE, AND THE PEOPLE BEING PULLED OUT ON STRETCHERS. THE ACCIDENT HAPPENED AT ABOUT 4:30AM, I WAS IN MY ROOM AND I HEARD A REALLY LOUD SCREECH OF TIRES THEN A LOUD CRASH WHICH SOUNDED LIKE A GLASS EXPLOSION, AND LOL MY PARENTS AND BROTHER DIDN’T EVEN WAKE UP FROM IT! AMBULANCES, FIRE TRUCKS, AND POLICE CARS FROM BOTH GLEN CARBON AND EDWARDSVILLE POLICE & FIRE DEPT. CAME OVER. LUCKY NOBODY DIED AND THE GUY AND HIS GF ARE GOING TO BE OK. THE FACT THAT HE LANDED ON THE GROUND ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE DRIVEWAY BEFORE HITTING THE WALL SLOWED HIM DOWN PROBABLY SAVING THEIR LIVES.
THAT’S WHY YOU SHOULD NEVER DRINK AND DRIVE, EVER. YOU HAVE TO BE THE BIGGEST IDIOT IN THE WHOLE WORLD TO DRINK AND DRIVE.
IF YOU SEE SOMEBODY WHO IS DRUNK AND TRYING TO DRIVE, CONVINCE THEM THAT YOU’LL DRIVE, AND NEVER EVER EVER GET IN A CAR WHERE THE DRUNK PERSON IS DRIVING! ASK IF YOU CAN DRIVE IN STEAD. DON’T DRUNK DRIVE!
THE GUY WAS ALSO INJURED, BUT NOT AS BAD AS HIS GF. LIKE I SAID, A HELICOPTER WAS WAITING JUST OUTSIDE OUR NEIGHBORHOOD TO TAKE THEM TO ST. LOUIS!!!!!!!!!!!
DOWNTOWN ST. LOUIS IS ONLY 25 MILES FROM GLEN CARBON & EDWARDSVILLE.
WHEN I FIRST HEARD THE CRASH HAPPEN, I THOUGHT "HOLY F***! THEY ARE DEAD!" BUT THEN THEY WERE BOTH CARRIED OUT ON STRETCHERS TO THAT AMBULANCE I TOLD YOU ABOUT WHICH BROUGHT THEM TO THE HELICOPTER WHICH LANDED OUTSIDE OUR NEIGHBORHOOD AND BROUGHT THEM TO DOWNTOWN ST. LOUIS. THEY ARE VERY LUCKY TO BE ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OH AND I BROUGHT MY DOG TO THE CRASH SCENE WITH ME. :)
